Child abuse is the physical or emotional abuse of a child, usually by parents, grandparents, caretakers, or other family members and friends. Child abuse can take many forms, including assault, child molestation, child pornography, kidnapping, and negligence. Intentional cruelty to a child, whether through abusive actions or dangerous neglect, is classified as a felony.
The law provides for criminal prosecution of the abuser, but what about the emotional and often times physically debilitating injuries that a survivor has sustained? Physical abuse can harm a child long after his or her injuries have healed. The emotional scars may never heal. It has been estimated that one million children are abused in the United States every year, and a small but significant percentage of those children die from their injuries.
At Hall Law, we will obtain all the facts and prosecute the child abuser so that the victim gets the full compensation he or she so justly deserves.
